Background Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, was flooded over due to prolonged cyclonic rains and the situation was getting dire. Despite wanting to help stranded people, Ola cabs could not reach them.
Challenge As a transport facilitator, Ola refused to idly stand by just because it’s cabs could not ply on the flooded roads of Chennai.
Solution Ola Boat- a temporary free service made up of 14 hired boats manned by firemen from the fire and rescue department of tamil nadu along with local fishermen. The boats and the service were the idea, the media and the message.
An idea that went beyond mere communication. Ola Boat delivered what no Facebook post or tweet or freebie or campaign could - safety and hope.
