This is the story about the creation of the hugely successful character on Radio One – Chamrajpet Charles.
The brief was to create a character that would represent Radio One to be a cool station for cool people beyond just the Kannada listening audience. This was also because they were shifting to a much more cosmopolitan programming format. The original name we had for the character was Justin Ulsoorlake. But after much discussion and prodding from Vishnu Athreya - National Programming Director of Radio One, we named him Chamrajpet Charles.
With more than 125 radio spots, Chamrajpet Charles has been one of the most popular segments of Radio One till date.
